Shop Profile – Prooflab

Prooflab, located in Mill Valley, CA, started in 2004 by Northern California ripper Nathan McCarthy. Prooflab provides a wide array of surf and skate products such as Cole, Stretch, Simon, Estrada, Channel Islands, JS, Chilli, Lost, Noe, Mark Richards, Firewire and Xanadu.  It is a unique shop because they carry surfboards from around the world but if you would like a local shaper, Pat Judah will shape a board for you in their shaping room in the back of the shop.

The wetsuit racks are packed with a variety of wetsuits from Oneill, Xcel, Hurley, Quiksilver, Matuse, West and Patagonia.  If you need any board repairs, no worries, Nate and the boys got you covered as they have a ding repair program and the boards take about a week to fix.

In the summer months there is a surf camp (Big Dog Surf Camp) that meets at the shop and goes to the beach exposing kids to the ocean and the beach lifestyle,  which is great.  Prooflab has an annual surf contest in the Marin head lands, which brings surfers from all over to compete for some rad prizes and have some fun.

On the skate side of the shop… Prooflab carries skateboards, skate accessories, skate shoes, longboards, and they even have a ramp in the back yard which is a host to a number of  skate jams.  You might be asking yourself… can this shop be any cooler?  Yes, it can.  Nate and the boys love art and they support local artist by displaying pieces of art on the walls which are lined with photos and paintings from a number of different artists.
