news-2009-airline_sufboard_fees.jpg What do Qantas, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, South African Airlines, Air Tahiti Nui, Royal Air Maroc, Sri Lankan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Emirates and Virgin Atlantic airlines have in common? They like surfers and they don’t charge us those ridiculous board bag fees like some of the other airlines. Who’s the worst offender? Well at the time of this post it’s Delta airlines. Even worse is that after paying the extra “handling” charge your board still shows up dinged. It’s time to let our voices be heard by signing this petition and for now please try to fly the airlines that aren’t kooks!

Our friends over at Surfline have put together a comprehensive list that breaks down this madness by the different airlines.

So why are these fees so high and what do they cover?  If you know we would love to hear about because we have no clue.
